Spring has officially arrived! Chester is offering many fun events this month, with food and drink festivals, markets, Wedding Fayre, concerts and boat trips! Take a look at what April has on offer for you…

 

The Cheshire Wedding Fayre - 2nd April 2017

The Cheshire Wedding Fayre is coming back! This is Chester’s LARGEST and most unique Wedding Event with more than 80 wedding specialists’ attendance on the day. There is a free event, and every attendee will get an amazing goody bag and a FREE glass of fizz on arrival! There will be a range of venues for attendees to take a glance at different elements to make a fantastic wedding. The three main areas are: The Wedding Garden - a place to find the perfect wedding transport, and visit the inflatable pub to enjoy a glass of chilled bubbles. The Tasting Room - a place to chat with wedding food and drink specialists, and sample plenty of delicious cake samples. The Wedding Hub - Enjoy live music and impressive catwalk shows throughout the day and talk to our wedding consultants.

Chester Food & Drink Festival 2017 – 15th April -17th April 2017

A must-go event with your family members! This festival provides Cheshire and North West local produce in the food marquee, including celebrity chef demonstrations. It brings some of Cheshire’s finest along with foods from all around the world! You will have the chance to try authentic continental food, such as stone-baked pizza and some English home cooked treats. You also cannot miss the diversity food stalls offering Thai, Japanese, and Mongolian food! There will be a big lifestyle section featuring the Grosvenor Art society, or key cooking demonstrations and more great food and drink exhibitors. Children can enjoy participating in cookery classes or watching others cooking with the Academy of Culinary Arts.

Eaton Hall Gardens Charity Open Day - 16th April 2017

Eaton Hall Gardens are open to the public four times a year to raise funds for local charities and this is the first one of 2017. After the long winter, you can enjoy the spring vibes across these gardens!

You can bring your homemade sandwiches to the 88 acres of gardens, and enjoy walking the 400ft Camellia Walk. You will also love the Squadron band and drill demonstrations, carriage museum, and archery. You can dance with The Original Panama Jazz Band, and watch the falconry displays and duck herding displays with your kids. Yes, you do not want to miss the Easter egg trail there either!

SoundBox presents SAM CARTER - 21st April 2017

SoundBox is a not-for-profit producer and promoter of acoustic & roots music events in and around Chester, UK. This April, they present Sam Carter, who has been named Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Sam has been providing live performances in the famous Folk Festival and various music venues around the world, from Camden to Canada, via an attention-grabbing appearance on Later…with Jools Holland.

Labelled as 'the finest English-style finger-picking guitarist of his generation' by Bellowhead's Jon Boden, Sam has proved his excellent performance in intimate solo shows on acoustic guitar, on electric with a full band, or working with other artists. The SoundBox concert is part of Sam’s solo Spring tour, featuring songs from his acclaimed third studio album, ‘How the City Sings’, as well as some of pre-requested songs from his back catalogue.

Makers' Market - 22nd April 2017

The award-winning Makers Market returns to Chester again. With live performances and street snacks, cookery demonstrations and children's activities, there is something to do for all the family – and best of all, it’s FREE entry!

The Makers Market features over 50 unique stalls offering local artisan food and drink, art and crafts, and the best vintage finds. The markets have an incredible fame throughout the Northwest and honour themselves on providing specially selected crafters and suppliers who source, grow, rear, bake, make and create the goods they sell, ensuring products are special and designed to impress and inspire.

ChesterBoat St. George's Day Vintage Afternoon Tea Cruise - 23rd April 2017

St. George’s Day is the day to celebrate our proud English heritage with that most English thing: traditional afternoon tea!

This is a full and beyond-imagination cruise, with vintage style authentic English Afternoon Tea prepared by King’s Acre Cupcakes providing freshly made finger sandwiches (including cucumber sandwiches), homemade fruit scones with jam and cream, a range of teas and an array of gorgeous homemade cakes. All the adults will receive a FREE glass of Prosecco on arrival, whilst kids will receive a glass of squash on arrival. The bar will then be open during the cruise so you can get more drinks. Chilling background music will be playing on all three decks as you cruise along the river Dee. It will be a day to relax and to remember!

ChesterBoat - Payday Friday Curry & Quiz Cruise – 28th April 2017

If you are a fan of Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kabab, Lamb Somosa and Vegetable Pakora, this is a not-to-miss evening! The past participants describe this three hour journey as “The Perfect Payday Friday Night Out” with special ones. This year the Curry & Quiz cruises are coming back! The three hour cruise sails at 7.30PM from The Groves in the centre of Chester. During the three hours, you will be served an array of Indian delights prepared by the Bengal Dynasty from Shotton, one of the finest Indian dining places in the region.

In addition, during courses, a quiz master will deliver a fun general knowledge quiz, with an award for the winning team. The cruise will also feature background Bollywood music between quiz rounds to make it truly exotic for you!
