What's on this October in Chester?

Autumn has arrived in Chester! Take a look at these events we have selected just for you this season…

Chester Antiques Show - 13th – 16th October 2016

Held at Chester Racecourse, come and see what Penman’s Antiques Show has to offer in the beautiful city.

Chester Antiques Show offers around 40 stands of antiques and fine art extending over 3 floors of the County Grandstand. The first two days of the fair are always exceedingly busy in the morning, but quieter in the afternoon. If you want to visit in relative peace, do consider arriving after 1pm!

Restaurant 1539 offers delicious gourmet food and wines on the first floor of the grandstand, and with a wall-to-wall glass front overlooking the whole Racecourse you’ll be able to enjoy a perfect view too! If you’d prefer something different, The Turf Restaurant on the ground floor offers a good choice from sandwiches to main courses, wines, teas and coffee. Alternatively, Joy's Bar on the Top Floor has seating overlooking the course and offers tea, coffee, wine, soups, cakes and sandwiches.

The Enchantment of Chester Zoo - 22nd – 31st October 2016

A spell has been cast on Chester Zoo by an evil sorcerer, attempting to steal all of the super powers away from the nocturnal animals. The spell must be broken by dusk! To break the spell all visitors must bring their good will along and follow the wise old owl. You’ll meet lots of performers, musicians, aerialists, acrobats and animals along the way. Chester Zoo is one of the UK’s largest zoos, with over 20,000 animals and 500 different species stretched over 125 acres. In July 2015 the zoo was named best in the UK and seventh best in the world by TripAdvisor. It is definitely worth a visit during your time in Chester!

Chester Rally Week - 24th – 28th October

Rally GB is returning to Chester for the first time in 20 years, at 41-45 Eastgate Street.

Come to the city centre on the 28th of October and you will be able to see the stars of the World Rally Championship up close. From around 2pm there will be lots of different activities along Upper Bridge Street and Eastgate to get everyone ready for the National Rally crew’s arrival at 3.45pm. The main event reaches Chester’s streets at 6.45pm when the biggest stars of world rallying will arrive en route after an exciting day of action in Mid Wales. Opportunities will be available for autographs and there will be special selfie stations to capture the moment. As this is a free event, large numbers of visitors are expected so the organisers have asked that people prepare for traffic and arrive early. You will also be able to explore the history of the event in St Michael's Church.

Halloween at Carden Park -  26th – 31st October

Halloween at Carden Park will have two sub-events: Fright Flight Zip Lines and JEEPers Creepers.

If you decide to choose the Fright Flight Zip Lines then you will take to the trees as darkness descends on the estate. Your Halloween experience will include two zip lines, a 250 “MEGA ZIP” and a treat for the kids. It will be a perfect evening out for the family, provided you’re not squeamish. If you choose JEEPers Creepers you will get in a 4×4 Jeep and make your way through the off-road track. You’re bound to come across some frightening things along the way! You can also combine the two events for double the fun.
